Analogous to the production of common steel needles like those used for medical purposes, we produce special needles with a glass cannula instead of a metal cannula. These glass capillaries have clear advantages over metal cannulas regarding numerous purposes.

These are the advantages of glass needles:

• absolutely smooth surface inside as well as outside
• high flexibility of cannulas smaller than 500 µm
• diameter of less than 200 µm is possible, down to a diameter of 70 µm
• inert material, chemically resistant even with high temperatures
• transparent, to give a clear view inside the cannula for observation
• very precise measurements, inside as well as outside
• integration of glass reservoirs in the needle is possible
• most different combinations, tasks and customer specific designs can be realized

Disadvantages compared to metal:

• the material is mechanically less robust than metal
