Micro pipettes are mainly used in medical engineering and research. With their small tips – they maybe smaller than one micrometer – you can aspirate cells, inject substances or observe and influence electrochemical processes inside a cell using a reference solution. Micro pipettes are a key module of modern research and are available in many types and kinds.
The raw material
Micropipettes are produced by heating and extending on so-called pullers. This way, different kinds of tips can be produced, and the tips can be adapted to the respective application.
Specialities
Further processing steps are possible. The tips of the micropipettes can be grinded plane or pointed like a needle. With an additional gold-plating, the tip will appear high-contrast in the light optical microscope. On request, a Luer connection can be fixed to the end of the micropipette.
